Cosmos Links Banks to Swift Blockchain Ledger for Round-the-Clock Payments
Cosmos Tokenization Suite integrates with Swift's blockchain-based ledger, giving financial institutions access to 24/7 cross-border payment capabilities.
A tokenization platform called Cosmos is offering banks and financial institutions a direct integration pathway into Swift's blockchain-based ledger, enabling round-the-clock cross-border payment processing that legacy systems have historically been unable to support, the company announced September 28 in New York.
The Cosmos Tokenization Suite is positioned as a connectivity layer, bridging traditional financial institutions to key settlement networks without requiring those institutions to overhaul their core infrastructure. The offering targets a longstanding friction point in global finance: cross-border transactions that are constrained by correspondent banking hours, time zones, and multi-day settlement cycles.

Swift, the decades-old interbank messaging cooperative used by thousands of financial institutions worldwide, has been developing distributed-ledger infrastructure as part of a broader industry push toward real-time, always-on settlement. Cosmos's integration with that ledger represents an attempt to make that infrastructure accessible to a wider range of bank participants without requiring bespoke technical development on each institution's part.
The announcement reflects accelerating momentum in tokenized finance, where traditional assets and payment flows are represented on blockchain rails. For banks reluctant or unable to build native blockchain capabilities internally, third-party connectivity suites like Cosmos's offering are emerging as a practical on-ramp to next-generation payment networks.
